1.)   Paste the pattern you were handed in the box below:

2.)   Using this pattern, create a table for the first 5 figures in this pattern.

4.)   Identify the expression for your table by comparing the input numbers to the output numbers:

5.)   Use your expression to solve the following figure numbers for you pattern:
a.) 10^th figure number
b.) 20^th figure number
c.) 100^th figure number
d.) Draw what the 10^th figure number would look like.

6.)   Come up with 3 balanced equations to go with your expression for the first 3 number of shapes, and solve the equation. Your answer should reflect the number of shapes.
Eg.) If you expression is n + 1, your first 3 number of shapes would be 2, 3, and 4. So a balanced and solved equation would look as follows:
n + 1 = 6 – 4 (reflects the first number of shapes; 2)
n + 1 = 2
n = 2 – 1
n = 1

7.)   Create a word problem that reflects your expression.

8.) Use your table to create a graph to represent your pattern. Make sure that your graph has a title at the top, a title for the x axis, a title for the y axis. Numbers are labeled on the line. Points are labeled (A, B, C, D, E) with the coordinates. Points are connected.

ANSWER ON A SEPARATE PIECE OF PAPER. Once completed, display your work in a visual journal page using flip charts and pockets. Your work should be creative, neat, colourful and accurate.
