Tomorrow is our field trip! At this moment, there is a forecast of sunny skies with a high of 11 degrees celcius. That being said, please dress for the weather as it will still be quite cool in the morning, and there could be some wind. As a class, we have talked about dressing in layers.
Students are asked to bring a litter-less lunch, or to carry their garbage out with them. We have discussed having a backpack to wear for the field trip in which they can carry their lunch and water bottles. This will also provide students with a place to put their sweaters if the weather warms up.
Please take a moment tonight to review expectations and safety with your child. This could include topics such as staying on the trail and leaving items on the trail (leave only footprints and take only memories), staying with the group, and following instructions from our guide, the teacher and our volunteers.
Please review also the expectations for washrooms. As there is only one washroom at the top of the hill, we have asked students to go to the washroom before they leave the school, or immediately when we get to our location. It is a long walk back (several km's!) once we get on the trails to get to the washroom at the top of the hill.
The school bell rings at 9:10, and we leave for the bus at 9:20, so please ensure you are on time tomorrow.
Other important information
-Me to We applications are due on Wednesday for those interested in participating in the Me to We club.
-there is a patrol meeting Thursday at recess.
-I have sent home homework for social studies on democracy and the election, this is due on Thursday. Students were asked to pick an article based on the election from an online source such as the Calgary Herald or Calgary Sun. They must use the template provided to fill in the "5w's and how" of the article they have read. Jot notes are fine for this, as long as the meaning is clear.
