Classroom Learning
Today we did some work as a class on placing decimals and fractions on a number line. Students were each given a fraction or a decimal on a cue card, and they held it up to their forehead so that they couldn't see it (like the game Head Bands). They then had to ask yes or no questions of their peers to identify their number, and then place themselves in order from least to greatest. Next, using a number line taped on the carpet, students identified if their number was close to 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, or 2.5 and placed their number accordingly.

Following this, we learned a fun new game using 3 dice, a number line, and decimals. Ask your child at home how to play "Betweeners"!

They discovered that both numbers are the same, and so arranged themselves one in front of the other, instead of side by side on the number line!

We love math games!
