Classroom Learning
Today in math we continued to work with our pattern block fraction designs from last week. We worked on using the triangle as a whole, and then counting one triangle as 1/4, 1/5, and 1/10 to figure out how the fractions would change for our design. Once we had completed our calculations, we traced our design out on chart paper and divided it into four sections (triangle = 1, triangle = 1/4, triangle = 1/5, triangle = 1/10), and we explained/showed our thinking for how we figured out each fraction. We used a variety of strategies such as tally marks, multiplications, division, diagrams, groupings, etc to help us figure out our pattern block fractions! We will be posting our findings on our bulletin board.
